The construction of what has to become Hollands biggest hotel, started today right next to Amsterdam Central Station.
The Amsterdam City Inn, as it will be called, will measure 30,000 m2 (320,000 sq.ft) and will have 553 rooms and conference facilities.
The hotel will have 4 stars.
It is located on the Oosterdokseiland, the island right next (to the east) of Amsterdam Central Station. The island is being completely redeveloped. Once the central sorting station for the Amsterdam post office, it is now the location of the new big Central Public Library and the new Music Conservatory.
Apart from the City Inn Hotel, there will also be apartments, offices, and several restaurants.
Under the hotel there will be the largest parking space in the country, with room for 1,600 cars and 2,500 bicycles.
The hotel is scheduled to open at the end of 2010.
