Cleaners' strike interrupted on Amsterdam Central Station

The Amsterdam Central Station will be cleaned today, despite the fact there's a strike by the cleaners going on.

The reason is that today is May 4, Remembrance Day, the day the victims of World War II are commemorated. A lot of visitors of the ceremony on Dam Square are expected, and the cleaners find it respectful to have a clean Central Station.

The strike is lasting for a week already, and the trains and the train stations are getting dirtier every day.

The NS (the Dutch railway company) has asked office staff this week to help cleaning the trains as much as possible.
