Civil servants of the city of Amsterdam have announced a strike during Sail 2005, August 17 to 21.
So far, not all kinds of workers seem to participate and the effect seems to be limited.
The strikers have announced they will not collect 'harbour tax' from boats entering the Amsterdam waters during Sail 2005. Also, the fire workers will not check buildings and do trainings.
The fact that the garbage will not be collected appears to be the most serious issue for the general public. The Sail 2005 organization had however already contracted a private firm to collect garbage in the Sail 2005 area.
As far as we know public transport is not to be affected.
