The (17th century) canals of Amsterdam belong to the most important attractions of the city.
Especially the ring of 4 main canals, laid out in the early 17th century, attract visitors from all over the world.
They are, from inside out:
- Singel
- Herengracht
- Keizersgracht
- Prinsengracht
The west and the south part of the canals are probably the most beautiful part.
Beside the 4 main canals, there are many other canals in Amsterdam worth seeing. For example, the Brouwersgracht, Kloveniersburgwal, the canals in the Nieuwmarkt area and the canals in the Red Light District are very pretty too.
