Building Amsterdam City Archives will become Oriental cultural institute

The current building of the Amsterdam City Archives (Gemeentearchief) will become an Oriental cultural institute in 2006.

The city archives are going to be moved to a new building in the centre of Amsterdam (building De Bazel at Vijzelstraat) in 2006.

The neighbourhood authorities have now decided the characteristic old building along the river Amstel will become an Oriental cultural institute.
The cultural centre should improve the understanding and communication between the Arabic and European culture.
