The Buiksloterwegveer is the only one of the 3 free ferries at the back of the Central Station that operates day and night (between Amsterdam Centraal and Amsterdam North).
This ferry can be very busy, particularly during the rush hour.
This ferry is your best option if you want to visit the Overhoeks area (with the EYE Filminstituut) or the Tolhuistuin.
The ferry is free of charge, and only accessible for pedestrians, cyclists and moped drivers. The boat ride takes just a few minutes.
With the increasing popularity of the attractions at the other side of the IJ, this ferry has become very busy. The city already decided to deploy extra boats - yet this ferry can be packed at times.
