On Saturday 7/7/7 (July 7 2007) there is a big concert on the Westergasfabriek grounds in Amsterdam (12 noon to 11pm).
Live Earth is an initiative by Al Gore (of the documentary An Inconvenient Truth). It stages 8 concerts worldwide, intended to draw attention to global warming and climate change. The concert in Amsterdam is not one of the official concerts.
Live on stage: Dutch celebrities like Fedde le Grand, AliB, Beau van Erven Dorens, Giel Beelen, Dolf Jansen, Sophie Hilbrand en Froukje Jansen.
Live on screen: Black Eyed Peas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, Snowpatrol, The Police, Linkin Park and more...
They will be visible on large screens.
Entrance to the concert is free, but there is a maximum of 12,000 visitors, so if you are interested it is advisable to make sure to come on time.
Time: 12 noon to 11pm.
The Westergasfabriek field is located just West of the Westerpark.
To get there:
On foot: from Central Station, walk through Haarlemmerstraat, Haarlemmerdijk, Haarlemmerplein, straight on to Westerpark, through the park to the adjoining Westergasfabriek grounds.
Public transport:
From Central Station bus 21, stop Van Hallstraat.
From Leidseplein tram 10 (western direction) stop Van Limburgstirumplein.
