This year, on September 23, Amsterdam will be almost completely car-free.
The entire inner city, everything within the circle road A10, will be closed for incoming car traffic. Exceptions will be the burroughs Zeeburg in Amsterdam East, and Amsterdam North.
Car-free Sunday is a yearly event, organized in various cities worldwide, intended to draw attention to environment issues, and to promote the use of bicycles and public transport.
In the past few years Amsterdam did either not participate, or only closed a small part of the centre.
