Amsterdam has landed in the top 10 of most expensive cities to park a car.
This is the result of a survey carried out by Colliers.
The Colliers International Parking Rate Survey shows that only Oslo, Copenhagen, Melbourne, Sydney, London-City, London-West End and Tokyo are more expensive to park a car for a day.
The Amsterdam rates are about E 40,- per day, depending on where exactly you park. Street parking in the center of town is E 5,- per hour.
Parking rates in Amsterdam appear to be under pressure. A few weeks ago, the parking company P1 lowered its rates to effectively E 20,- per day (under some conditions).
And this week, the city of Amsterdam announced it will change the parking rates to E 0,50 per 8 minutes in two of its own parking garages in the center (Waterlooplein and Markenhoven), instead of E 4,- per hour.
With the price measure Amsterdam wants to stimulate the usage of both parking garages.
