Amsterdam gay clubs open during Gay Pride, despite rent conflict

The well-known gay club The Exit and bar the April will be open during gay pride.

Gay pride will be from August 1 to 8 (the famous Canal Pride parade is on Saturday August 7).

The club The Exit will be open from July 30 to August 8, and the April bar from August 5 to 8. The Soho bar, which was also going to be closed, will now not close until after Gay Pride.

All 3 bars are located in the famous Reguliersdwarsstraat, one of the main 'gay streets' in Amsterdam, since the 1980's.
The closure of the 3 bars is caused by a legal conflict about rent payments, between the bar/club owner and beer brewer Heineken.

Because of the closure of the night club The Cockring (which was because of illegal drug trade), Amsterdam does not have a full-time gay night club any more.
