Amsterdam doctor can not be barred because of age

A general practitioner in Amsterdam has won a case against 2 health insurance companies.

The doctor - 81 years old - was refused a contract with 2 major health insurance companies. The companies say he is too old to function as a general practicioner and do not want to pay for his services.

The Equal Treatment Commission has ruled that the professional medical organization are well capable to test the skills of doctors. Doctor Van Hasselt has always passed the test with flying colours, and now hopes he can win the court case against the insurance companies.
